Halloween Fun

I know I start every post with something like, 'wow, what a week/weekend we had', and this is no exception!!  Maybe everyone has such jam packed weekends too, but it seems we keep topping ourselves.  This weekend we:
1) Had Shabbat dinner with family on Friday
2) 2 Soccer matches (one won and one lost) on Saturday
3) Adopted a dog
4) Watched the UGA game
5) Went to a pumpkin carving party
6) Had b-day dinner with Amanda
7) Made a haunted gingerbread house
8) Trick or Treated
9) Shopped and ran errands

Wow, we need a weekend to recover from our weekend :)  Which we do have the day off school tomorrow for the elections, so the boys and I can take it easy, have some fun and rest?!?  Poor David is back off to CA early this am and no rest for him :(

Halloween is such a fun holiday for the kids - our boys love to trick or treat and get dressed up!  They will have such great memories from it!



On to the dog item - as you remember, we 'gave' the boys a dog for their Christmas gift last year - being that it is almost a year later, we decided to get in gear and actually get the dog!!  We went to an adoption on Saturday after soccer.  Found a few options and really gave some time to picking the right one.  Ryan wanted the little 10lb dogs, but we were really pushing him more toward that 30-40 pound dogs.  We had seen this one dog and she had a cute face, but she had been treated badly (left chained to a tree without food or water), and she seemed very skiddish in her crate. 

We want a dog that will be interactive with us the the boys and not afraid of every little thing.  We didn't think she would be a good fit, but on the urgings of the lady at the adoption, we tried her out of her crate, but she was the same.  She is ideal in every way - 2 years old so energetic but not a puppy, house trained, lab mix, the right size, so we decide to bring her home for a trial.  We have her for a week, and are already in love with her.  The first night, she was very nervous and checking everything out...but we woke up Sunday morning, and she was a different dog.  Very happy to see us and interact with us.  We took her for a walk around the neighborhood and lake.  I don't want to jinx us, but no accidents, no chewing anything except her toys, no bad behavior (jumping, barking), and she is so warmed up to us!  She even did well with all the trick or treaters at the door and ringing the bell.  I'll post photos of her soon!
