Passover & Easter

Oh the life of a two-sets-of-Holidays family! Hanukkah and Christmas overlapped this past December and now Passover and Easter overlap as well, and that doesn't always happen since the calendars are different.

Passover began last Wednesday night with our first of two Seders (ritual meal that includes the telling of the Exodus from Egypt and thus the Passover story). It also begins the week-long tradition of not eating chametz (bread or anything that rises or is levened) and only eating Matzah. For some ancient reason, the Jewish holidays are celebrated two nights, so our second Seder was on Thursday night. The first was hosted by Lynne & Matt and the second by Granny and Oupa, and both make for a late night. The boys didn't have school though because of the holiday.

We ended up going to the Zoo with our neighbors on Thursday and it was PACKED! We have had a Zoo pass for years now, and this was the worst it has EVER been! It was still fun and the weather was ideal. Friday, David had the day off, so we took the boys to see Monsters vs Aliens, and they LOVED it! It was pretty clever and like most animated movies these days, had quite a bit included for the adults as well.

The boys, especially Ethan are VERY into games now! He wants to play all the games we have and loves Zingo, Memory, Hi Ho Cheerio, and now chess, checkers and his latest is Battleship! He is pretty good at them all, but is a horrible bluffer (no poker for him yet)....we were playing the other day and it was me against Ethan/David, and I say, "A2" and Ethan says, "miss, but don't say A3 because my ship's not there"...he tried, but just is off on his timing and delivery!
