Well - in November of 2009 that is!!! That's right, we have booked for Disney for a year and half from now. We are going with the Whitehurst family and are using timeshare, so we wanted to get a really nice resort so had to book early...plus it gives us something to look forward to :) We will have at least 5 kids ranging from age 2 to 7 by then, so it should be an adventure ;)
Ryan might be ready to go diaperless??? He is officially wearing Kung Fu Panda underwear as of this morning. We have been building up to this the past couple of weeks and today we are ready. I think, with any luck, we will be doing #1 in the potty most of the time by the end of the weekend - who knows (or wants to think about #2). Can't believe that we can see the end of our diaper tunnel!!!
This week we bought bikes - not for the boys - they already have - but for David and I. Neither of us have ridden bikes since - well, it's been years...so this should be fun. Our plan is to go early in the morning (before it gets hot) to the Silver Comet trail and do a quick 4-5 mile ride. I have a double bike trailer that I bought on a deep clearance last fall (it's a $150 Schwinn trailer and I got it for $25) - so we are going to use that for Ryan and maybe Ethan although, we are hoping that Ethan can ride his own bike mostly...he is really good on it. We will see - I will report back.
We had dad's pre-testing today. We had to be there at 9:30am and not knowing what to expect other than maybe bloodwork (they really should do a better job of setting expectations). So, we get there and find out that it will take about two hours - they will need to do an EKG, urine test, chest x-ray, and we need to watch a 15 minute video, etc. So the two hours go by quickly and it is now 11:30 or so, and we are still waiting to see Dr Cooper (the surgeon that we did not get to see in office earlier this week)...well we wait about an hour while he is supposedly finishing a surgery and the nice nurse come out around 1 and gives us vouchers for the cafeteria since he isn't there yet....we eat, get back and she tells us that he had to go straight into another emergency surgery...and would be about an hour and half still...so, we decide to get out for some air...and right about the time we get all the way to my car and leave the deck...they call and say he is on his way!!! So, we rush back, and meet with him about 2:20pm (we had been there for 5 hours at this point!).
He is a GREAT person. Very open and laid back and just sat and talked with us and apologized, but was unrushed and just nice...which is refreshing. He is also a phenomenal surgeon, so we are lucky to have him. He answered our questions and set a surgery time - Monday, 7/7. We have to be there at 5:30am that day and the surgery will be 4-6 hours. They will replace the valve with a cow valve and do the bypass and remove the tumor. Then dad will be in ICU for 1-2 days then in a regular room for 2-5 days depending on his recovery. So this is it....time to take care of this problem.
Grandy and Oupa left today - they are headed to their Alaskan cruise! How exciting for them! We wish them a safe and adventurous time! Ashley, our nanny leaves for her trip to The Big Apple this weekend...we will miss her, but we wish her safe travels as well.
Oh and Chris and Amy's due date is February 14, 2009 - Valentine's Day!!
