Ry's 3 year check-up

What a busy day we have had....

We went for two special hair cuts this morning and the boys are more handsome than ever! Here are a couple of photos of the new 'dos' - we were being silly at lunch and making duck faces with our pringles!

Then, straight to our pediatrician for Ryan's 3 year check-up. I had told him that he didn't have to get a shot which you normally don't at 3, but he needed his 2nd administration of the new Hepatitis A vaccine since he is in school (otherwise if he weren't exposed to many children he could have waited until next year - but it is better this way because I believe there are a few more shots that he will need at 4). He was very brave!

He is doing well. He is 35.5" tall and 33lbs and his BP is 80/46 (which is normal for his age). He is 50% for weight and 10% for height...surprise, surprise! For comparison, at 3, Ethan was exactly the same height and 29.5lbs (3.5lbs lighter in the 20%)....Ryan is a much more avid eater though, so it all *fits*.

Both boys are going to have their cholesterol tested. Apparently, the American Academy of Pediatrics is recommending it for kids as young as 2 now (thanks to our notoriously bad diets in this country, there are large numbers of small children with serious cholesterol problems!!). We think the boys will be fine, but our doctor thinks it is better to be safe since high cholesterol in small children can be even worse than adults and affect development and heart health. We haven't gone yet for the screening, but I understand it is a small finger prick.

We are now headed to our professional photo shoot at Clix! to get some shots of the boys together and some of Ryan's 3 year old self! Hope they turn out well!
